Built in 1913 towards the end of the Arts & Crafts era, The Stonehouse was the last house in Colinton to be designed by the architect Sir Robert Lorimer, and is arguably one of his best. Set back from the road and approached by a circular driveway, the main reception rooms and principal bedrooms face south with views over the expansive rear garden and out towards the Pentland Hills.

There are five reception rooms on the ground floor affording flexible accommodation and each has the character expected from an exceptionally designed house of this time. The hallway retains the original dark timber doors and surrounds of the period and is beautifully highlighted by lighter decoration throughout. A large breakfasting kitchen, W.C. and separate utility room complete the ground floor accommodation.

Upstairs, on the first level, are four large double bedrooms (one with en suite) and two further bathrooms. The second level contains two more bedrooms plus a large room currently being used as a library (but which could be a games area or 7th bedroom) with a separate study off.
